2000 GMC Jimmy - tire size & brand recommedation

Hi,

Could someone please recommend (from experience I hope) a tire size and brand for my 2000 Jimmy (4dr, 4 x 4).

I go onto the various tire web sites and try to select the best tire based upon the size on it now .. just too overwhelmed with the selections.

I'm looking for a tire with high threadware, temperature and speed rating numbers. It looks like the big name guys (Michelin, Goodyear etc) are just that ... using their name. When I look at the "details" on the tires they seem to fall short of what I'm looking for.

Recently, I replaced my 1999 Pontiac tires with Dunlop tires.. not an impressive name ,, but the ratings were very high. Last week I saw a Cherokee Jeep with tires from Pep Boys ... Avenger AT .. I think was the name .. looked pretty good too. So today as I look for tires for the Jimmy .. name doesn't matter.

The tires on the vehicle today are Uniroyal AT, P235/70R/15.
The tires look okay but, I rather have ones with more of an agressive thread design and maybe a litlle larger. Could I up the size safely? What size?

Thanks,
George
