2 things come to mind, fuel pump relay and fuel pump. The gas gauge sending unit is part of the pump asm that is in the gas tank. Check your fuel pressure at the fuel rail. The is a schrader valve on the rail. It should be around 60 PSI. The fuel filter should be changed every 25 to 30 K. It is under the drivers door on the inside of the frame. Be careful when changing it as it is under pressure. Release the pressure at the schrader valve.
