The problem is in the interior door handle. Take the door panel off and then there are 2 screws that hold the black handle on. Be careful to not bend the rod when you take the rod off the back. Turn the handle over and look at the plastic gear that moves when you pull the handle. The part that always breaks is the lowest gear tooth that you can see. Take a flashlight and you'll be able to see if there is a break. These parts are famous for breaking all the time and are pretty cheap to replace yourself. Tom

One more thing.....if anyone has an Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer and needs to replace the Blower motor resistor, this part is different from regular explorers due to the Climate control. Ford had to redesign this part since the original OEM part goes bad. They cost approx. 110.00. Make sure your parts dealer understands this is for the Eddie Bauer Edition or else the one you get won't work
