Myself and Nizmolee are getting ready to do this mod, so I have been looking into it a lot. First off, you CANNOT adjust the timing of the 4th gen+ maxima's without modding your ECU. the only adjustment is through there, so you would have to do something like the mentioned ECU mod by JWT. You can run from a low jet to about a 60 shot and not worry TOO much about your car. That is not saying don't worry, but only minor upgrades are necassary. A tranny cooler is a good idea for the auto guys, and you might want to think about upgrading your clutch on the 5-speed. You should have, at a minimum, a Fuel pressure guage and an A/F meter, but an EGT would also be useful, as well as a NOS pressure guage in the cockpit, so to speak. If you want to get into the 70+ shot range, look at upgrading your fuel pump, going to a step colder spark plug, possible bigger injector's, and some serious tuning. I know of some guys that are running 100 shot, but I implore you to start low and learn. Once you go bang it's all over.
www.clubmaxima.com has a good write up on NOS, and there is a whole bunch of experience on
www.maxima.org , but most of those guys are around texas. Start slow and play it safe. I would rather spend a couple $$$ and upgrade the fuel system than blow my engine. Good luck. :sun:
