Easy swap. This should be no problem with a set of ramps, a set of metric wrenches and ratchets. I did the one one my SHO a couple weeks ago. Do yourself a favor and make sure that the new starter looks exactly like the old(Just to be safe). Count the number of teeth on the drive gear.

You may just need to clean out the whole assembly. Sometimes, dirt and oil will get packed in the motor and cause a bad connection. You can also have it rebuilt with new brushes and springs pretty cheaply.

If I were you, I'd take the old starter out and see what the problem is before you lay down the cash for a new unit. You may get lucky.
