it depends on if im looking off a pic or a making a car up. im looking off a pic, i use lines and boxes to guide certain parts of the car.(ie. a windshield, wheels, exaust etc.) this part usually takes a while for me too because everything has to be perfect or the car will not turn out that good. im think if it is a detailed car, it will prolly take me anywhere from an hour to 4 hours. yes it seem like a lot but in the end it turns out good.(usually :]) if i am making a car up, i make a box at whatever angle i want. this usually takes even longer than looking of a pic because i make the car up as i go. i think there is a tut on the grid technique. we used it in art class last year for making cartoons. it works really well if u want everything to be perfect. i got a 4.0 =). i usually dont use it because i think its good to fluxuate the car with some creativity. good luck on your wrx vw.
