You're right on the VG30DETT route, Ratdat. If I wanted to do that I would've swiped out of the Tamiya kit. It's a shame that there isn't a 1:24th/1:25th scale rendition of the Q45 V8 (the recent quad-cam one, I mean) since it's a quite nice engine

Theoretically, you could cut 'n' shut two VG30DE's to make a V8 but it would be an expensive way of going about it
The VQ33 is a six cylinder version of the V8 I believe but I'm not sure if there are any kits with them in. I think some Nissan trucks came with VQ33's but not sure what models are available
