how about try comparing both base models?
HP TQ Tranny
STOCK celica 140 125 5spd
STOCK rsx 160 141 5spd
RSX TYPE S(w/ i-vtec) 200 142 6 spd
Celica GT-S(w/ vvt-i) 180 130 6 spd
celica: 1.8litre dohc vvti
rsx: 2.0litre dohc vtec
Both the Celica-GT/GT-S and the RSX/type-s are Front Wheel Drive incase of confusion. The celica weighs 200 pounds less than the rsx-s. i have driven both cars, the 6 speed in the celica isn't very good, theres flaws in the drivetrain, maybe the clutch, that make it slower between shifts (car and driver will vouch). however, any 6 speed is hard for some one thats not used to them. the chasis in the rsx felt much stiffer and stayed connected to the road during the entire test drive.
overall in my biased opinion, the rsx type-s is a better car overall. both cars have tons of potential aswell, but stock for stock, base class to base class, and type-s to GT-S, the rsx is faster. And as far as the track goes, for those of you familiar with Integra suspension, it lives on in the DC5 chasis of the RSX.
as far as displacement goes, theres no replacement for displacement.
toyota's engineers should step up to the plate and develop a 2 litre that can be utilized in the celica to compete w/ the rsx.
so for you toyota celica junkies... dont mess with the most powerful N/A i-4s in the world. And also remember that your knock-off vvt-i can suck honda off.
