As far as the block goes it's the same.
There was one change, and that was 91-95 is OBD1 and 96 and up is OBD2. The only differance you'll find with the motor will be the throttle body and TPS. Just reuse the throttle body so you dont have to mess with the differant sensor.
EGR could be differant also.
To make sure every thing matches up with the EGR just reuse the intake and exshast manifold.
Oh, almost forgot,the throttle cable braket is a bit different to, just reuse the old one.

If you want to be a little cooler of a teach, pick up a 97 2.0 Escort motor and drop that in, it has 110 hp instead of 88.
