just as long as your timing is retarded to the right degree and your fuel enrichment is good, high compression is better due to better combustion in the chambers compared to lower compression motors...
let's put it this way...what will spool a turbine faster(same motors scenario)? the one with 9.0:1 staic compression ratio or the one with 10.5:1 c.r? You do the math...just as long as the fuel requirements are met(enough fuel ,higher octane), the higher compression motor will always come out on top....
