sorry mike,considered not interchangeable,because the 3.0 tranny runs through the computer.either have to put the 3.0 engine in with it along with the computer and wiring harness from bumper to bumper,not feasable. best bet is to find a tran. from a 2.9 found in 1986-90 ranger/bronco.you can adapt the back up light wires but not the OD. I once put a 4.0 in a 86 bronco.it was a major job,but you got to keep the like eng/trans/wiring harness/computer together.i'll reasearch my wiring diagrams and get back at you.
