hello, fellow seeker after budget fun
yeah Mumm, I started the "under $5,000" thread, but it's FAR from played out. Everyone here has been awesome, friendly, and helpful with some good suggestions, but there is much work and research yet to do to find the perfect budget undercover sports ride.
Since starting that thread, I have driven a 95 Integra-- nice, reasonably fast, some blind spots in back, but no car is perfect.
Drove a '96 Accord that had been modified heavily, and it was a high quality car, no doubt, but it sat you high, so the sensation of speed really wasn't there.
Also drove a '94 Saturn (must have been the base model, couldn't find an alphanumeric) -- it wasn't very fast but it was fun to drive. No blind spots. It seats you low to the ground, --lower than the '95 Integra or the '96 Honda-- which increases perceived sensation of speed, a very important quality!
Early 90's Preludes, Corollas, Legends, & Sentras also seem to all share this "low to the ground" driver seating benefit..
In fact, I think I'll start another thread about it.
A friend of mine mentioned that he knows someone with a Mitsu Eclipse and that the engine is in bad shape, but it's a nice car overall. I am trying to arrange a test drive.
Also waiting for my friend with the '94 Legend to get back in town so I can drive that. I'll post if it's anything to write home about.
Please keep me informed of your findings as well.
I hope this helps.
