CHEROKEE WON't START, Details inside, NEED HELP ASAP
Thanks for helping... I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 liter, 4x4. I just replaced the water pump. Vehicle started 3 times in a row, then I let jeep sit for 15 minutes while I cleaned up my garage. Tried to start it again and it did not do anything. The dash display comes on fine, but the engine (starter) does not turn over. Engine code 12 is stored now in the ECU. Code 12 says "Battery Voltage to PCM disconnected within last 50 key-on cycles." I have tested many circuits and this is what I have found... 12V is going to Starter Relay (Proper). When the ignition switch is in the start position, it IS sending 12V to the Starter Relay (Proper). The Starter Relay is for sure working properly. When the vehicle is completly off, and the keys are out of the ignition, the ground feed going to the starter relay, to complete the circuit, when the ignition switch is in the start position, the circuit is CLOSED. Problem is, when the ignition switch is in the ACC position or any other position EXCEPT the OFF position, the ground circuit going to the starter relay is OPEN (BROKEN, not a complete circuit). The wiring diagrams in the haynes manual does not show completely what is in between the starter relay ground and the ACTUAL grounding point, except for it does show that the transmission rang switch (park/neutral switch) is in between. DOES anyone know what is in between the starter relay ground feed and the actualy grounding point? Better yet, does anyone know what my problem is???? THANKS FOR THE HELP
