Re: remote starter

I live in Buffalo, NY and it's getting cold around here. It would be nice to get my remote starter installed! I am down to one wire that I need to identify before I install it. The instructions indicate that I should locate the vehicles ECM tach input OR the negative side of the ignition coil. According to the Service Manual, terminal 3 on the ECM (Pink/Blue wire) goes to the Unified Meter Control Unit for the tachometer reference. This is one possibility, but I am not sure if that is the correct wire. It would be easier if I could use a connection off of the ECM so that I don't have to go through the firewall.

Anyone have an opinion on this or for that matter, experience with locating the tach reference wire?

PS...it is snowing.
