B16A's in Japan were never officially called B16A1 and B16A2 but they still get called it. (not just in US but in JDM countries like Japan and NZ)

B16A1 - 160hp. Cable tranny. Came in EF9 Civic SiR, EF8 CRX SiR and DA6 and DA8 Teg XSi

B16A2 - 170hp. Hydro tranny. EG6 and EG9 Civic SiR, EG2 Del Sol SiR, DA6and DA8 Integra XSi facelift plus EK SiR

The differences are B16A2 has OBD1 instead of OBD0 wiring, different rocker cover, higher compression, different cams.
