then you 'ride' the clutch, it starts to smell like burning toffee. I did that in my car once, i was trying to GO, but my stupid gear box, i thought it was in 1st, when it was acctually in 3rd haha, and i burnt the clutch, it's ok now.
Dad did the same in his 4x4, we were 4-wheel driving on a mountain, and we hit some serious ground, and getting out he used a lot of clutch, he glazed it and it had to be replaced. If I'm reversing, i use the clutch just enough to get moving, then I put it in fully to avoid riding it, or, whack it into nuetral.
