It is not so much that the Murci needs more power, it needs to go on a diet. There was a very good article in EVO, an interview with Gordan Murry. He of course is the creator of the Mclaren. He simply says the today cars are to fat. Car makers are trying to make up for the weight by adding more power i.e. Mercedes Benz. He stated that true sports car should be rear wheel drive, naturally aspirated, and light as possible. He states that the car that closely resembles the ideals of the Mclaren F1 today is the Zonda C12s.
I tend to agree with him as most car buffs, myself included still feel the Mclaren F1 to be greatest car ever produced. Regardless Lamborghini is still my favorite.
