i have never seen CVT trans before but it would make sence to compair it to a snowmobile, a snowmobile trans works with belts and centerfugal force to creat different gearing ratios, basically as the resistance on the wheel or out drive side decreases the closer to 1:1 the gearing ratio becomes. at least that is my understanding
