I know Nissan was promoting their Infiniti G35 Sedan as a "Front mid-ship engine", since it has the engine behind the front axle.
The 350Z and G35 Sedan share this platform as well as the NIssan Skyline.
That term will probably become more common as more sports cars are coming back onto the field.  :

correction, it was Mazda with the RX-8 who was advertising the "front mid-ship engine" placement thing..
I think someone needs to go look under the hood of a 350z/G35... its engine is placed more like a Subaru, than the Mazda RX-8.
