Parts ...parts ...parts
Decide ahead of time your budget...
What do you want from your car?
Fast...? Look cool....?Audio system...?
Adding exhaust will increase the efficiency and improve tuning performance.....and IS the ONLY bolt on part that can make a solid improvement without having to be paired with another part.
Adding Ignition will cost you $$$ and without other parts ...namely injectors and fuel rail and pump....it really serves little purpose.
You have to analyze the "reason" you are putting a part on....not just bolt something on.
First in the world of performance ....DO A COMPRESSION TEST!
Adding anything else will not help, if you require rings, or a valve job just to make the engine run normally(as per factory stock).
Check that all cylinders are withing 5 lbs of one another, if they are do a basic tune up and add exhast ....it will be the biggest single improvement you can make and the most cost efficient. (per Hp)
Remember JUSt BUYING and bolting "stuff" on serves no purpose until you need it.
Increasing exhaust efficiency always helps.....increasing voltage or spark duration only helps IF you NEED it due to increased compression or fuel load, or cams that have provided more overlap leaving less time to get the sparks job done.
Failing that, you can add K&N Air filter and increase performance IMMEDIATLEY..... you can put in Bosch multipoint plugs and make full use of the stock ignition.
Good luck & remember "Step by Step and, with reason"
