wacked out distributor

Well i thought this was just plain weird.

I'm headin out on a trip from kelowna down to vancouver a good 5 or 6 hour drive a little less if you really push your luck. So i did the whole pre trip preparation thing and i start headin down the highway. I'm about two hours in and then all of a sudden my car starts flucuating in speed so i pull over and it dies on me. I tried starting her up again and it would turn but just wouldnt start. Then like the 5th time i turn it it starts and im thinkin good now i can get back home and see what the hell is the matter. My car had other ideas. so as soon as i start to pull away it dies again. Well i said screw it and called a tow truck and got my car towed back home. I went through all the easy checks like the fuses and ecu codes and whatnot and came up with nothing. So i decided to check the distributor and the screw that was holding the rotor in fell out. I just though this was really weird since the rotor and distributor were changed not too long ago and and the have a locking washer on the screw and i made sure everything was put together tighly and correctly. I'm just happy isnt my fuel pump or something a little more involved.
