I will have to disagree with the both of you. I am a member of SCCA and also have participated in many racing events such as drag, AUTOX and TRACK TIME at Siebring, little talladega and ROAD ATLANTA, I have also participated in many illegal street races from Miami to Atlanta. I have been in several wrecks and i thank god that i am still alive. All of the wrecks i have been in where due to street racing, I rolled over in a street race almost killing my self and others watching the races. We used to race is a road called "Stairway to hell" it was made of many extremely sharp S turns that where very banked allowing any car with a descent suspension to go at speeds u could normally not achieve in any other turn. I have owned and built many sports cars in my 22 years, and i currently own several RX-7s from 1985-1994 Twin Turbo Edition with many mods. I love both forms of racing but in the streets you are responsible for other innocent peoples lives. So before you go out there and race in the streets please be sure that u atleast know the road real well, keep an eye out for cars mergin into the road you are on and also for people watching the races. Remember its best to loose sometimes and have a chance to raise again, than to go for it and possible end your life or the life of others. I strongly believe in sanctioned events and SCCA is a great way to start. Trust me there is no feeling like going around a track 80laps inches away from other cars at speeds of up to 160mph, taking turns at 90 with the rear end slighty drifting out, Slowing down from 160mph to 40mph back to 160mph through turns, straights and kinks. Also SCCA provides a great platform to race for those with very little or no budget at all. Street racing is fun but in the long run you will realize it does not pay off. I have lost 3 friends to street racing and 0 to SCCA racing. I have lost 2 cars to street racing and 0 to SCCA racing. I dont mean to bore you all with this because i do love both forms of racing but we can all clearly see the price you will pay eventually for racing in the streets.
Have fun racing, be carefull and vaya con dios
