Oil loss has nothing to do with it, so relax. BUT, running dry on oil (I dont think you were dry) will acelerate the process. So take care and watch it closely. Now tell me, what the hell gasket is it you are seeing oil on? There are a hundred gaskets in there.

And is a grind or a vibration? How many miles? when was the tbelt last done?
