Hey, good car choices, they're the same as my own.
Don't worry about the initial d thing or having people call you a wannabe or a bandwagon jumper. The only people who will do that are the ones who aren't really on the bandwagon themselves.
For good info on those two cars specifically and good advice on learning about road racing and car control head over to
www.club4ag.com MotoP and everyone else over there are a great help. Also, don't sell yourself short about learning to actually control a car at speed instead of just drag racing(note: not bad mouthing drag racers). It is something that takes time, effort, dedication oh and did I mention time?

But it is quite possible and enjoyable.
As for the cars, $3000 should be enough to get you started on a GTS but your going to need more money to keep it maintained and running properly. The FC might be a little out of your price range, or at the least the turbo2. An N/A should be doable. If possible with the FC get a series 5(89-91) as opposed to the seris 4(85-88). One thing to remember is that in general unless your either very lucky or skilled enough to do alot of your own work it'll cost about the price you pay for a car that old again to get it on the road and in good shape.
Oh well, whatever ya choose goodluck and if ya need any help or your just bored stop back here or drop me a PM.
