I have just finished off doing a 350Z chasis, so I can tell you how I did mine.
I sprayed entire chasis in dark gunmetal (in my opnion a better modern chasis color than flat black) and picked out initial nuts and bolts in silver using bottle paint (steel or alumin) than I sprayed the resonator box (whioch is a separate piece) with gloss aluminum. After all is dry attach the resonator to the main chasis plate and lay down a spray coat of dullcoat to kill the shine. I picked out the exhaust in aluminum and the headers in "steel" and I than picked out the drive shaft in titanium (but you can also lay down a carbon fiber decal that conforms to the drive shaft to represent cf driveshaft (if you are building a tuner)
Some interesting more-than-stock options would be to add the brake lines (they are not molded into the chasis of the kit) and to detail paint the nice brakes that come with the model) BTW the brake claipers can benefit from a small brembo decal on the front rotors if you are biuilding stock set up. These decals can be found on a number of DTM/GT or WRC decal sheets.
I will post a picture of my chasis for 350Z if you like for refference.
