The transmission is having problems upshifting. I went to check the fluid level and found that the dipstick is rotted away and won't stay in the hole. I figure most of the rubber around the dipstick is probably in the pan and possibly clogging up the pump. Will a flush help this? I'm gonna try it and replace the dipstick. Any help on how to flush the transmission? I've never done this before. Any resources that might make this easy would be very much appreciated.

You can go to a parts shop and buy a tranny pan kit, which comes with a gasket and a filter, and pick up some tranny oil, 4 qts.
Remove the tranny bolts, carefully remove the pan. Wash and dry the pan. Replace the filter. Install the pan with the new gasket and fill her up. Check the fluid with the car running in neutral. Good Luck.
