Nope, it's possible to mate a cable tranny to a hyrdo clutch as well as a hyrdo tranny to a cable clutch. Hasport makes conversion kits for both ways, so either one is possible.
(Honda Tuning June 2003, pgs 60-71, "Going Hydro."; Honda Tuning June 2003 pg 68 "Swinging Both Ways"). Hasport's EKCC (96-00 civic) Kit (cable-hydro) approx. $225, the EFBHY is approx $275. The 92-95 has a slightly diff kit, I only have the name included with hasports engine mounts, it's EGB1 (mounts + cable-hydro kit). Thats $499, so it should be only about $225 or so also for just the tranny kit.
