16 to old for modeling?? I'll be damned!! I must be an old fart around here at 36!! I think a good basic kit would be a curbside kit with no engine detail. Or go with a snap kit. Sanding sticks and x-acto knife, plastic glue with a thin tip, Tamiya spray paint, some testors paint for details and a good paint brush. That should hold you for now! Oh and check out the FAQ it will be your best guide and if you need anything else feel free to ask here on the forum.
