I had a similar problem with my 92 Sunbird (also GM). My car wouldn't even turn over when hot, and if yours does not either, it might be the starter solenoid. When the GM starter solenoid gets hot (with an hour or more of driving in my case) the solenoid cannot work properly until it cools. The last straw in my case was when I was stuck in front of a pump at a gas station in Mesquite, NV in August. I finally took it in and replaced the starter. Apparently, some shops can replace just the solenoid, but I chose to replace the whole starter for the warranty. If it is the same problem as mine was, I would recommend some sort of warranty because after I sold the car to by brother-in-law, he had to take it in again (3 years later) for the same problem. Hope that helps.
