The stock head and block surfaces will need to be milled and/or lapped no matter what if your going to put on a MHG, it has to be perfectly smooth if you want it to last. Many people have gone back to the stock toyota head gasket and had no problems, the gasket wasn't the problem, it was the under torqued head bolts, which by the way need to be torqued to 72ft lbs, if you go with ARP bolts or studs they also should to be torqued to 72ft lbs, factory was 58ft lbs
