The 305 is a junk motor. With it's long stroke and small bore, it takes the motor a while to wind up and make power, making the 302's shorter stroke and bigger bore far better at making power down low where it's needed. Also a stock 88 GT weights 3,193 lbs, with a little weight reduction it can easily weight under 3000 lbs no problem. Oh and just because you beat one Mustang, that must mean all Mustangs are slow and under powered!
Now if my dad's mini van beat a Camaro RS, that must mean his heavy ass Safari can whip the snot out of any 2.8L RS......
Also, 97mph seems a little slow for a 13.9, what elevation were you running at?
