I used all kinds of shit in an attempt to clean things... The head was bead blasted so I didnt touch than, but I used gasoline, WD40, and an abundance of other chemicals on the block... But it realy came down to simple green and elbow grease to get the block clean... I used some Mothers Aluminum shine to get it shiny like it is. Let me tell you, it took quite alot of loving to get the whole block buffed by hand.
I sugest airplain stripper... If I had thought about it earlier I would have used it. It will clean thing up quick and hasle free, but if you want that shine... Wax on, wax off.

Who did you get to do the valvespring job? How far are you able to take the engine up to now? or did you do the line bore to accept ls(b18a/b) springs?
