As a famous phrase goes, the problem isn't the tool but the artist. You cannot say one is better than the other because it takes practice to get a good paint job spraying out of a can or with an airbush. But airbrush is good if you want to do more complex paint schemes which require fine tuning of the spray pattern.

However, if you are just painting something simple, spray cans are the way to go and you don't need clean up after painting.
