Another reason that the GT-R has to go through many many conversions and modifications before it is street legal in the US is because the GT-R does not pass the US crash tests. Motorex has figured all of this stuff out. They modify the car to pass emissions standards and crash tests, and I'm sure there's more that I can't think of right now (just got off work and haven't eaten dinner yet). If you buy a GT-R w/ no engine, and then put an engine from a car that does pass the emissions, you still will not be street legal.
