This is what made me wonder: it's an auction for some koni sport shocks for the rear for type rs or 88 civics/CRXs, and I believe that the type r's are an inch lower, so as long as the coilovers are adjusted it should be ok right?

These are the same control arms that the JDM 89-95 Civic and 94-01 Integras come with. The advantage to this is a lighter, stronger and better handling control arm.
