Is that supposed to be cheaper? IMHO, I don't see any advantages other than being able to say you have a GT-R. It hasn't been legalized yet, so you can't drive it. Basically, you would be stuck with maintaining an ilegal car.
All you're really doing is prolonging the inevitable. If you're going to pay to get the car federalized, just wait until you can afford to get both done at the same time. Either that, or go to Motorex or RB Motoring and get a legal car.
On top of that, how can you make sure that the Skyline you purchase is in good shape? Are you going to go to Japan and find a mechanic to look one over before you buy it? That's the other deal people seem to forget with Motorex. They have a contact that looks for Skylines that have few, if any, modifications and are in good condition.
Sport Compact Car put it nicely when they said that Motorex skips over cars that have been modded more to be different than to be better.
