Well he probably has a 700R4, thats a 4 speed auto tranny. Switching to a 3 speed (TH400) might not be good. I would say get a good aftermarket tranny from

Get the TCI Street Fighter transmission, that will handle lots of power and it will bolt on like a factory one.
