I neither drove, nor rode in Don's car. I do however trust his judgement on suspension.

I suspect you needed to do some tuning with your suspension you had before. A series of small bumps can, howver, lead to some jiggliness and harshness no matter the springs/dampers when you are using high rate coilovers.
