That tach jumping is more likely a symptom of some other issues....

Your coil is prolly not connected well, or your igniter is acting up, or has loose connections. My car ran like ass when I first replaced the igniter, and then once I got it "properly" installed, it was

You may want to go back and double check all your connections and make sure nothing's loose.
