I dont think you can come to a "I will shoot anybody whos in my house" conclusion. There are a huge amount of variables.
How do you know the intruder is going to rob you? You dont. He could just be burgling the place. Call the cops first, they ARE TRAINED TO DEAL WITH OFFENDERS.
If you are really that paranoid about someone breaking in in the middle of the night, invest in a good alarm with a panic button. Buy pepper spray or a baton (but make sure you know how to use it first). A ASP would do nicely for the home. Dont buy a PR24, thats overkill. So to speak.
You will very rarely get away with shooting someone, although it depends on what they are doing at time. Self Defense laws. I really really dont want to go into S48 in this post.
