: transmission slipping in first gear!!!
    Troy1

I have a 2000 4t65e he that slips in first and reverse only. When I don't give it any gas, it is choppy/ surges like it wants to grab. When I give it gas, it will barely move. I pulled codes and there was one for pcv. I have replaced every electrical device under the side pan with used ones from a 4t65e I had laying around. Still has same issues.

Any insight? I've also noticed a wire going to the ecu has rubbed against an after market filter and exposed some wire

Troy1, I have 02 Chev Venture w/ 148000 mi & tranmsn slips from 1st to 2nd. From stop light, van would go for a few feet ok & then would just rev w/o adding any speed. After several seconds or minutes, the gear would engage. If it does not engage soon, then I manually shift to the gear#3(next to D gear), & it would go further, but at much slower speed. Sometimes, it would refuse to engage even when I shift manually into the 3rd gear! It runs more smoothly in the colder weather when the outside temperature is 30-35 degrees F. The problem is worse in warmer weather. Dealership said the level & condition of the fluid is ok, but I have to replace the whole transmission with a reman unit, with cost of $3,500 or more. Is there anything else I can do/check before spending that money? I read something flashing the car ECM/PCM, or getting some solenoid replaced, etc., but not sure who why the dealership did not recommend that. I was told that changing fluid/filter would make this worse.
