 That's soooo BIG!!
it's like that square mac computer
about the kiddie oriented thing... i read a statement by the president of nintendo that said this console will concentrate on the younger gaming community.
While the xbox concentrates on the hardcore gamers, that need the best graphics, best detail, etc.

BTW, ever notice Sega is always way ahead of it's time, but no one ever buys their stuff? The Sega GameGear or whatever is was was color, and long side to side. Everyone bought the inferior monocolor Gameboy. Now Gameboy advance, like 10 years later, is color and long side to side. Sega CD was like the only CD system, and no one bought it, instead they stuck to cartridge Nintendo systems. Now everything is CD (or DVD, but still disc) based. Sega came out with the first 128 bit system, and no one liked it. Then came the PS2, and everyone got it.

it's so true.... i think Sega was the best video game company in the world, but nobody got it for some reason... i think they just had bad marketing (main reason)
but they did have a couple systems that were popular like the Sega Genesis, everybody had that :D i also had a game gear when it came out... now i have a Dreamcast and a PS2, and you know what? PS2 isn't that much better, on a scale of 1-10, i would give dreamcast a 9 and the PS2 a 9.5
There haven't been any games for PS2 that have really BLOWN AWAY the dreamcast, there are so many racing games for DC too, and they have all the good RPGs like Shenmue. NFL2K1 for Dreamcast is the best football game still and i play it all the time against other people around the world.
Dreamcast was the first 128-bit system also the first system with a built-in modem so that you can have multi-player games on your dreamcast, suprisingly NO LAG!! (most of the time)
also i read that dreamcast only uses like 60% of it's potential system power  that means it could have games that are WAY better than PS2.... but since they stopped making them cause of some bullshit goin on in Sega, they didn't move to the stage of the really advanced games.
btw, Tennis 2K2 for dreamcast......... most fun game EVER!! :D :D

The biggest money maker at Sega was the software, the hardware was just a way for them to promote and sell their games at a maximum profit. They realized they could make a better profit by just selling the games (software) and kill their hardware department. Just a bottom line call.

a bunch of games came out lately like Tennis 2K2, NFL 2K2... and all the other sports games
You wouldn't think a tennis game would be fun, but holy hell, Sega hast the magic touch!!

I think the problem with the Game Gear was its huge appetite for the 'AA's.
Plus I always prfered the Game Boy games and I'm not alone.
Segas biggest (only?) success was the Genesis/Megadrive. Its other systems alwas played second fiddle to Nintendo, or more recently, Sony.

I agree that the two systems were very close in ability. The PS had slightly more balls, although Dreamcast had more RAM I believe.
PS had much better games, I totally disagree about Shenmue. The FF games were better.

Shenmue breaks barriers, there are lots of games for dreamcast that the graphics are almost as good as PS2... and the games are made alot better
Shenmue, is the only game that use the internal clock and real time stuff

Typical talk coming from a shop owner. He is a bit bias right there when he said GC is going to crush Xbox? Thats doubtful. The GC's launch line up only has about 2 games that are must buy, Xbox has about 6. I'd rather have Xbox then GC anyways. GC doesn't offer much right now, not until the new zelda or Mario games are you. Smash bros and Rouque leader are the only two games that will crush any of the Xbox games. But, that shop owner knows nothing.

I can't wait for the gamecube, but The 64 was kid oriented, but still had some of the greatest games: 1080 snowboarding, Golden Eye, The Zeldas, World Driver Championship, All of the sports games that were also on the PSX, but with graphics that were 10x better, and the greatest of all of them Conkers Bad Fur Day. There were others, but those were my faves.
You can only get Rare titles on Nintendo systems, and since they are the greatest game company around, I am going to get the Gamecube.
Can't wait for the new Zelda, Kameo(Probably going to be the best game for the Gamecube for at least the first year), Metroid Prime, Wave Race: Blue Storm, Luigi's Mansion, Rogue Squadron 2. The Gamecube may focus on the younger audience, but it is not abandoning us.
The X-Box at first I thought was going to be the best, but then I looked at its games, and I don't see anything I can't wait to play. And the cables that it uses can't handle all of that extra power, so it really isn't used.

Oh and the problem with sega, they rush every system they have so it ends up being inferior in the long run. The gameboy was more succsessful because of the cost, and the games. And gameboy advance is much more powerful and smaller than Game Gear was, and the Game Gear went through batteries. If you want to talk about a company that was way ahead of its time it way mmmmm help me here, 32 bit portable handheld, I can't remember started with an L though.
I thought Shenmue was a little boring, and too technical, but a great game nonetheless. I personally think psx systems are overrated. The only games that they had the N64 didn't have that I really liked were Teken, and Gran Tourismo.

But anyway back to Kameo. Kameo is a rare game, and I have only been dissapointed by 1 rare title, and that was banjo Tooie. Conker is the best so far though. If you havent' played conker go buy it. Funniest game ever made, and amazing graphics. One of my favorite games of all time definitly in the top 2 or 3.

Just what I've heard... I don't know about X-Box though... My overall opinion is its either going to be really good, or really bad, but nothing inbetween. If Microsoft puts alot of money into it, then it will be really good, but I think that Microsoft just put out X-Box to be in the competition. I think that it wont be that great when it comes out, but might be better in the long run.

Colours are the one thing that undoubtably the SNES had in its favour. The SNES had many, many times more colours than the Genesis.

heh, i got all those except for Sega GT... i didn't think it was good (though i never played it) but everybody says it's awesome.. so i gotta check it out :D
MSR is so freakin hard... i think there's somethin i'm doin wrong :)
I like Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2.. that game is sooo fun, plus you can mod your car in it. Get body kits, suspension mods, new exhaust and performance mods like turbo... so you can increase the hp of your car. There's also stuff you can do to make it lighter. Then you drive around streets and race people, it's good fun :D

Get body kits, suspension mods, new exhaust and performance mods like turbo... so you can increase the hp of your car. There's also stuff you can do to make it lighter. Then you drive around streets and race people, it's good fun :D

I have to agree with you gang$tarr...I'm 99.999999% positive that an old issue of some popular console gaming mag (can't remember the damn name) that I had back when SNES and Genesis were new said that the Genesis had way more colors and better graphics than the SNES, but the SNES had way better sound. And I remember compared Street Fighter 2 for Genesis and SNES, the voices in the Genesis version were unintelligible, but the graphics rocked, while the SNES was easy to understand, but the graphics were worse.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who still has their DC hooked up. Like someone else said, the great thing about the DC is the amount of games available and you sure can't beat the price. I seriously haven't even played all the games I have for it. I have about 200 (paid for about 20) . I even have an 80gig HD sitting in my closet with games just waiting to be burned. You can order them online for $2.50-$5.00 And I don't think anyone can really say the kidcube is gonna be better than the Xbox because it all comes down to the games. A system is only as good as the software than runs on it. My girlfriends little brother is counting down the days for his kidcube and I'm counting down the days for my box. There's only one game so far coming out that I've seen exclusive to the cube which I'd wanna play and he's getting that anyways. So it all comes down to which has more games you wanna play. And as far as which ones will do better in the stores? Well let's see, us adults have to shell out our own money to buy them, which might be difficult. As opposed to all the parents that don't want to make their little rugrats sad Christmas morning. I still think the box do far superior in sales and games. I already have my A/V selector hooked up to the TV, with the DC in slot 1, PS2 in slot 2, and a nice warm fuzzy spot for the big green behemoth I like to call my new friend :)

yeah they're not gunna be makin the shenmue 2 for DC in the states... put i'm pretty sure there is Shenmue 2 for DC in japan... cause i saw a review of it too
DC rules.. i like it better than my PS2, mainly because i can get almost any game i want for free when i feel like it :D and Sega makes really good games
it's a smart move not puttin shenmue 2 on DC here... i think. cause they'll get soo many more sales if they put it on the Xbox or another system, plus then they can make it look even better (even though it looks pretty damn good now)
but can't wait for the Xbox, which will destroy everything

my fav dc games are jet grind radio, shenmue, tokyo extreme racer, tony hawk 2, and spider-man. iv seen some new games for ps2 that look pretty sweet like devil may cry, metal gear solid 2, and tony hawk 3, but im gonna wait till the price drops which hopefully wont be too long with the arrival of gamecube and xbox. as for nintendo and microsoft i am still undecided as to whose pockets my money will end up it. on one end we got nintendo whose been goin crazy with it for years. and on the other a supercomputer desguised as an entertainment unit. duece
