PLZ HELP ME!!! Front Passenger Brake is locked up, wat do i do?

Alright heres the situation. Yesturday goin to college i noticed my car was shaking a lot at like 30 mph+, which definitley wasnt normal. So when i got there i checked my lug nuts on all my wheels and when i got to the front passenger side, they were hot and the wheel was hella dirty. I then decided (for some reason) to touch the brake rotor which gave me a nice 3rd degree burn on my finger. So I knew my braked was messed up. I get it home and about an hour ago started workin on it at my friends house. I unbolted the caliper, took out the pads, and tried to squeeze the piston with a c clamp, but i couldnt do it, and usually its pretty easy. So then I tried bleeding the brakes, which i think i did right but now the passenger wheel barely is able to move at all (takes a lot of force), at least b4 it was drivable. Does anyone out there know the cause and/or solution to this problem. PLZ reply asap. Thanx

Alright, i figured out something else. I went outside and clamped the piston as much as i could and the rotor was able to move a little better. But as soon as i hit the brake the rotor was stuck again, i guess meaning that the piston isnt retracting. Is there anything that i can do to fix this or do i need a whole new caliper? PLZ REPLY

Nope sounds like you need a new caliper,you should be able to get a rebuilt one for like $20-30.

The slider could also be froze.

yeah the caliper slides back and forth, so u just might have to grease up that slider thing, and it could be fine

your boots cracked? if they are cracked they might have let dirt/dust in the slider and caused it to freeze?

Alright well i got it home with no prob. Whe i was driving it didnt shake or anything weird, and i put it in neutral while drivin and my speed decreased like normal, now if the pads were locked up wouldn't i slow down faster? Also, i did some hard brakin in my neighborhood and compared temp with the other front rotor, and it seemed to be about the same. So it might only do it once in a while, which makes since because ever since i replaced the rotors, pads, and brake lines, my cars done that shakin thing like everyone once in a while. Any idea if this could be a frozen slider? Also, are u talkin bout the cv boot i guess hbsi91? Thanx all.
PS Could i have done something when replacin all that stuff, cuz it was my first experience with brakes.

no theres 3 boots, i think its 3 on the brake system on each side, back in summer i bought a complete set for 2 cars from the dealer and it came to like 113.86 :eek: but if you just need a few they shouldent be too bad on your wallet

Sounds like a stuck caliper, about this time at work we get a caliper from the parts store and replace it...or you can try and rebuild it but i heard that sucks....

Thanx all. I guess i gotta buy a new caliper then. I thought they were like $140 after core, I dunno, cheaper would be nice, but ill have to find some somewhere. If anyone else has anymore ideas lemme know. Thanx

u should try and grease the slider first with lithium grease, that might fix the problem and will save u 100 plus dollars

Yo...my Dad just bought two calipers for the back of his Del Slow from Autozone ;) and he had the same issue...Also...to make it driveable while he was ordering parts, he didn't over tighten the bolt that bolts the caliper to the hub..it has a definite point where it gets tight...he just backed it off 1/8 turn or so...snug enough so it wouldn't fall off, but when it was torqued to spec, it locked that shit up cuz the caliper wouldn't slide :bloated:
Just get a new caliper dude...you'll end up screwing everything else up and have more than just a caliper to replace if you keep driving it like that and super heating all those parts....

If you get a non honda brake caliper make sure to powdercoat it because mine has rusted like a ho.

Thanx all, i ordered a new caliper today, $55 after core, which aint bad at all, so then ill put it on tomorrow. Hopefully ill notice a difference with acceleration and gas mileage. I gotta repaint the caliper tho, which is gonna suck some ass...but not too much. Thanx again for all the help.
