Pics! Awesome!
What colour did you say you were doing it?
I sprayed my Subaru today and left it to dry in the boiler cupboard! It stank the whole house out! Fortunatley Mum was OK about it!
By the time Dad came home the house smelt of Bolognese sauce!:D

When you come to paint it in blue I would want to take the rear spoiler off to make it easier to paint.
Trying to paint the spoiler(getting underneath it etc), you may end up with to much paint on the back off the model.
I found its easier to attach it later on after spraying the rest of the model.

1st coat...lightly cover the whole model
2nd coat...same as above, making sure its all covered and even
3rd coat...Slightly heavier coat for the final finish.Making sure you have a nice smooth even paint finish.

well it aint broke, so i won't fix it. now i can start on the TS-50. now i need to find some clear finish to go over it so i can polish without taking all the paint off. does tamiya have good clear finish? i might have to order some cause the hobby store doesn't carry any tamiya stuff:mad:

I do believe an Acrylic lacquer will work fine over the top of Tamiya paints. I haven't done it, but I'll ask a few mates for you.
That would save a load of hassle!

I'm definitely keeping abreast of how this one is going, because I bought the same kit last week, and just haven't figured out which color I want to paint it. I was thinking maybe the Icelandic Pearl, or Mica Blue. Who knows....

If it was me i wouldn't clear coat it. I have never done any of more models in clear. Spend a bit of time on the paint/compound/polish and you will end up with a excellent result.

Wow looking good so far. I won't bother with a clear coat since you're using Tamiya paint. It also looks nice a smooth in the pics, doesn't look like you'll need much work to get a good shine out of it. :D

thanks, i checked on my polish today and they said that the suppliers didn't have any tamiya polish in store at the moment. but he showed me some other stuff that is basically the same, applied with a soft cloth and smoothes out the paint etc. i guess i'll go with that for now.

6 days isn't too bad! The longer you wait, the more you are rewarded!
Seems you used Tamiya paint I say 6 days is enough!
I will wait until I get back from Aus to do my Porsche! 5 weeks will mean the paint is super hard and can get a shine befitting a Porsche!

Excellent! Can't wait to see them!
I am surprised you did the covers, most GSRs didn't have them, they were more suited to the lighter weight RS model.
But she be interesting to see them!
How did you find the polishing? Good results?:)

nothing in particular, it just took some work to get it to sit just right. there are little slots that it fits into and i couldn't match them up just right because there wasn't enough light, but it fits fine now.
and now the pics! i'm going to taunt you now with only a couple and you'll have to wait for the rest until they are in the model gallery.
