i think it's something like 79-84 mk1

85-92 mk2

93-98 mk3

99+ mk4

whenever they switch the body style again...

i'm an mk2 fan myself...

they take easily to the vr6 and 1.8t swaps, they weigh less, the aftermarket is huge, and they're easily found... for cheap...

not bad...

spend 4-5k on a 90-92 GTi, and then 3-4k on a 1.8t swap...

stir...

watch other cars gawk at your taillights getting smaller...

only problem wiht the vr6 swap is that it raises the center of gravity and gives the car a high chance to flip. im not sure aobut the 1.8t though. i would still love to have either. get the gti with the 4 headlights or swap that fron onto the jetta...

Very close, but Mk3 was until early 99. First part of 99 (99.5) was Mk3 (as far as Jettas and Golfs go), second half was Mk4. Current projected date for Mk5 is 2005. We are pretty sure that will hold. Just gotta get the Toureag, Phaeton, R32 and Microbus out of the way first. HTH,
