Timing Belt issue...

I own an '89 Honda Prelude SI 2.0 DOHC Manual and just recently replaced my timing belt... A number of issues arose afterwards. I know I didn't screw up the timing belt. I had two other people check and double check that the teeth were lined up EXACTLY as they were before I replaced the belt. At the same time that I changed the belt I changed the spark plugs as well.. I thought my issues might be due to improper gapping, considdered they WERE gapped at 40 and I gapped them at 45, however I changed the gapping on the sparks back to 40 and that didn't make any difference. With all this information I forgot to say what the problem is: The car isn't driving at its intended performance. When I push on the gas in first gear it boggs down REALLY bad. It seems to me like not all of the cylindars are firing and it's burning gas, which I have also noticed it eating my gas tank up twice as fast as usual (driving around town). I checked all of the vacuums and made sure that everything was tightened up nicely, I check the spark wires and they are making good contact with the spark plugs I checked the gapping on the spark plugs, I checked that the ECU was properly connected and I reset the ECU by taking the negative batter cable off for ten or so minutes. Like I said, I think the only thing left for me to check is the distributor timing but I was hoping to get some additional feedback before I get into that.
One other thing, this may just be a compression issue, but right now my vacuum from my fuel regulator (right behind my engine) that leads to my cruis control is disconnected. Reason for that being, when I plug the vacuum into the cruis control device it drops the idle rpm down about 300 and makes driving even worse.
Any thoughts comments would be appreciated.

are your wires connected in the right order?

if all you did was replace your belt and now you have a proble then it sound to me like you did something wrong. the twin cams are a bitch first of all and if one of the cams are just a tooth off then you will get a "bogging" when you hit the gas, the car will still run but it willl bog. Recheck the belt you should have had slack between the two cams when you were done.

I am having the same problem, but my car was redlining early too. Was yours and did you ever fix the problem.
