tranny and clutch question

Ok well checking out my tranny and clutch i got just a bit ago for the dx so it will sell better, my friend said if you can see the gold/copper colored circles on the clutch that the clutch is bad, or maybe he meant if the circles are flesh with the rest of the surface but either way this clutch does look like that so is that true?????? next question regarding the tranny, how can i tell by the serial number on the tranny what tranny it is, mine says L3-blah blah he said that he thinks thats si he said he thinks the dxs are SL3-blah blah and that the location of mine being on the rim of the trnny where it bolts to motor is where the number usually is for the si and that dx is not there. so tell me whats up how can i tell which tranny i got. thanks

I thought L3s were the Si tranny. But my ZC tranny says L3 also but I know its a ZC tranny because it has an intermediate shaft. So I don't really know what any of these are calls.

i'm curious on the tranny Q too, mine has the numbers printed on a gold sticker kinda thing and i think mine says L3 also
if i got an Si tranny then i'll b hella happy!:D

dude if you bought your car stock i doubt miraculousy for some odd reason you would have an si tranny in there, i bought this off someone

there were like 5 or 6 owners who had it b4 me lol
so if one blew the tranny they might have tossed the Si one in hehe :D
but mines the STD so i still dont understand why i have a D15B2 cuz it should have the D15B1 if i'm not mistaken. but i wanna know if its the Si tranny or not :D

EDIT: also, my car had the Ractive Exhaust and KYB- GR2 Shocks and APEX Springs when i bought it so its not 100% stock lol ;)

god damn greg couldnt you just tell me lol! thanks man, do u know about the clutch, guess not.

STD has a 4 speed tranny. If your car has a 5 speed, its either the DX or the Si tranny which are the same anyways, just a different final gear.

Your talking about the rivets in the clutch disc ? Yeah when the fiber on the disc is worn down to the rivets it's time for a new clutch, also all Si trannies have a round stamp with a PL3 in them.

yea i saw my round stamp but cant see anything inside it from above the car so i'm gonna hafta take the wheel off one day when i have no time on my hands :D i'm hopin it says PL3! :D

just curious tho, the Gold sticker thing on the front of the tranny by the enigne code, is that pointless? just mine just Says L3 then a buncha numbers after it, stumbled across this when i was scrapin inches of dirt off the engine hehe
