I am installing a psir of 6x9s in the rear deck of my Accord and a pair of 6.5s in the doors. How should I install these. The rear speakers don't really fit in the stock speaker locations. I was thinking of just zip tying them into place. Is there a better way and is it really important for sound quality.
I heard that mounting the speaker in MDF a good way to go. Is that a good idea.
Also, what guage wire should I run to the speakers. I have a 4 channel amp that puts out 50 RMS (100 watts max) per channel.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Use MDF to mount them to the stock locations. Zip-ties will not allow a good seal between the front and back of the speaker, which will make it sound like ass. 16 gauge wire will be fine.

Why dont the 6x9's fit in the stock location? Is it cause they just dont fit or the holes dont line up? Using zip ties is definately not a good solution although i've been tempted to do that myself a couple of times....... Either that or ducktape. ;) ANYWAYZ, if you can use self tapping screws and just make your own holes to mout the speakers. Otherwise MDF is definately the way to go as far as making some kind of bracket.
