at home B16A swap?

i really like my civic but the D16Z7 just isnt doing it for me. ive done alot of research on B series swaps and have a helms manual and all the tools i need (i would rent the engine lift), do you guys think someone with moderate automotive knowledge could do this swap or should i drop the 600$ to have a shop do it :confused:

How much time do you have. I'm trying to pull of a B20/VTEC. If you haven't done it before it takes a while.

Check your engine block stamp again buddy :finger:

D16Z6 and no it shouldn't take long,but plan for a week,that way if something breaks,or doesn't work and you have to order it and wait you won't be screwed.

im doing my b16a swap at home too, i dont have much time to work on it, and i am replacing most of the parts and gaskets with new or high performance stuff, so my build has been going on for months now.

Just take your time and pay attention, this is the same way i did my swap and it went fine (it just took a few weeks of ordering parts once I started the swap, I did not realize everything I needed until the motor was out of the car:( ) if you have ALL the parts you need you should be able to have the motor in within a day or two (Making it run could be a different story but it should start right up) as far as an engine lift I used a lift and dropped the motor out the bottom which is SOOOO much easier than using a hoist.

I didn't know jack about my car. But i got it in and it runs great. Just make sure you have a checklist and before you start you have EVERYTHING. It took me about a week by myself and about 3 or 4 hours a day.

i've supped up lots of d16z6's and blown every single one of them. a total of 6. i wasted money getting it over and over again. i finally said screw that, i'm going with a b16a sir2 motor. it is well worth it
