car stalling

driving my car 98 740i it keeps stalling like the gas is cutting off engine light has come on the only way i was able to get it home which was 4 blocks away was rev rpm's to 2500 in nuetral and then put her in drive it stalled 4 times in a 4 block raduis any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you

does it idle on the park or neutral?

yes and then it cuts off after 2 minutes
